ABOUT LAURA VOGELNEST

Laura immigrated to Australia with her family 30 years ago. She was a school teacher in South Africa and also a well known professional potter who had a number of successful exhibitions. On arriving in Australia in 1980 Laura began working at the Child Care at Centrehouse and started teaching the children pottery which became extremely popular. During this time she wrote a children's pottery book 'Fun with Clay', that was such a sell out success that she wrote others, 'The Story of Clay" and "Clay Creatures", which were distributed to schools in Australia and the US.

Laura also started up the Yoga classes for adults in the 1980's and has a Diploma of Education, an International Yoga Teachers Association Diploma and an Honours Diploma for Yoga, as well as other accreditations in massage and stress management.

After 17 years of teaching pottery, Laura decided to concentrate on running the Yoga classes and has been practising Yoga for 33 years, incorporating Iyengar techniques and the Alexander techniques as the foundation of her methods.

In 1999, Laura was presented with an award for Outstanding Teaching Services to Centrehouse and has been a huge contributor to the success of helping and teaching the local community, life and creative skills.
