PRINTMAKING - INTAGLIO & RELIEF

ABOUT THE COURSE
 
This course aims to give participants an introduction to a variety of printmaking techniques. The course will be practically based, students learning, through demonstration, guidance and practical activity. These classes suit all levels of experience.
 
The class will begin with relief printing- using, lino, plastic and foam plates.   The basics of relief printing will be explained and students will have a chance to create and print their own work.  Students will then explore the techniques and methods involved in creating drypoint and etched images on plastic and metal plates. These intaglio techniques will be  fully explained and students will learn basic press set up, and wiping and printing techniques. By the end of the course students will have a collection of prints which demonstrate different techniques involved in printmaking.
 
WHAT TO BRING
 
Some materials will be supplied, but please bring along the following materials;
·         old shirt or apron (best)
·         wear covered shoes
·         set of, or single 'V' or 'U' lino cutting tools (optional)
·         pencil, rubber and sharpener
·         disposable gloves & kitchen gloves
·         rags, paper or old newspapers for cleaning up
Scribe or etching needle (cheap student qulaity is good enough)
Cartridge paper for drawing and printing

ABOUT DENISE SCHOLZ-WULFING
 
Denise Scholz-Wulfing received her BA from the college of Fine Arts, a Diploma in Education and a Masters of Letters in Visual Arts. Denise has had solo exhibitions since 1985 and her printmaking practice spans across all intaglio and relief printing techniques.
