Exploring Drawing and
Watercolour

Play with watercolour, aquarelles, gouache and other water
media. Learn to paint, how to colour works, and how to mix an exact colour,
with the minimum number of paints. Learn about background effects,
brushstrokes and washes. Create mixing charts and discover the surprising
effects possible with inks and watercolour. Also, if desired, play with black
& white media. Suitable for total beginners, the rusty, or anyone in need of
guidance to see what you are drawing. Using pencils, graphite, charcoal,
Indian ink and water-soluble graphite; learn about perspective, sharpening
pencils, shading, observation drawing, plants and natural objects, faces,
hands and much more. Materials available to try and purchase if desired.

POTTERY- Wheel Throwing

SPECIAL EVENT: GLASS WORKSHOPS with PETER MINSON
Peter Minson is a renowned glass artist who holds workshops in
his Studio in Binalong NSW and around Australia. He studied at the Orrefors
Glass School, Sweden and Kosta Boda Glass, and has taught at the Canberra
School of Art, RMIT University Melbourne and Sydney College of the Arts.
Beginners Glass Bead Making
SATURDAY 30th August: 10am-4pm $200
Glass is an
exciting and challenging material to work with and this class is designed to
let beginner students start exploring their creativity with knowledge and
understanding. Students will receive a comprehensive introduction to safety
issues before receiving instruction on hand techniques for bead making.
Demonstrations will be given for bead making techniques including
compatibility tests, making stringers, twisties, encasing, combing
(feathering), using foils and Dichroic.
Borosilicate glass and blowing
SUNDAY 31st August: 10am-4pm $225
This Intermediate-Advanced class will introduce techniques
using Borosilicate (Pyrex) Glass to explore its use for blown work using
offhand skills. The term Offhand is used in Lampworking, when working without
a mandrel. You will be taught how to create hollow blown beads and vessels
using Borosilicate, demonstrating decoration techniques on the outside or
inside of tubing. Compatibility and annealing will be explained at length for
different glasses.
KNITTING WORKSHOP $75

learn to knit or create your own designs. This workshop is suitable for the
beginner and those wishing to extend their knitting skills and the very
advanced. Branka is an amazing textile artist with lots of experience and will
assist you at whatever level you are at. She will demonstrate seamless
knitting techniques and will help you with your own projects.
INTRODUCTION TO CALLIGRAPHY $75

Have you always wanted to use calligraphy for cards, or perhaps
for bookmarks or invitations? This workshop , specifically designed for
beginners, will show you how, using an attractive ancient alphabet and various
design ideas. You will take home a selection of examples with all materials
and notes included.

Learn the versatility of working with pastels. In this fun and
experimental workshop we will start with a still life and then abstract it
using collage and mixed media. This class is suitable for beginners and the

LIFE DRAWING

This life drawing group is for artists who want to work from the figure in an
undirected environment. On a fortnightly basis local artists will meet to draw
or paint the figure with a co-ordinator who will guide and help set the poses
for the class, ranging from 3 to 15 minute poses in the morning session and
two, 1 hour poses in the afternoon.
