Exploring Drawing and Watercolour $160

Jane Blundell, BA (Vis Arts), Grad. Dip Art Ed. (secondary), Prof Artist & Illustrator

THURSDAYS         9.30am – 12.00 noon

Play with watercolour, aquarelles, gouache and other water media. Learn to paint, how to colour works, and how to mix an exact colour, with the minimum number of paints. Learn about background effects, brushstrokes and washes. Create mixing charts and discover the surprising effects possible with inks and watercolour. Also, if desired, play with black & white media. Suitable for total beginners, the rusty, or anyone in need of guidance to ‘see’ what you are drawing. Using pencils, graphite, charcoal, Indian ink and water-soluble graphite; learn about perspective, sharpening pencils, shading, observation drawing, plants and natural objects, faces, hands and much more. Materials available to try and purchase if desired.

In Marie’s classes you will learn to paint and extend your skills in colour, texture and the blending of mixed media in a friendly environment. These classes are suitable for beginners and those with some experience

This course is designed for beginners and experienced students who would like to continue developing their skills and their own style, in either painting and/or drawing. Covering the essentials through still life, landscape, portraiture and the life model.

 

POTTERY- Wheel Throwing            $220

TUESDAYS 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Learn to throw pots on the wheel. In this intensive class, students will be guided through the throwing process: from preparing clay,     mastering basic throwing shapes, and finishing processes, glazing & firing. Clay costs are additional available from $12/10kg bag.

 

ABSTRACT PAINTING NEW $180

Expand your painting skills or start from the basics to learn to interpret the world into abstract forms and ideas. Angela will introduce students to ways of working creatively and experimentally with colour and form

 

MASKS & MOLD-MAKING NEW $220

This course will take you through the process of  making masks out of clay. Students will learn how to make a  plaster mould, ceramic masks, slab rolling, glazing, firing. Clay costs are additional $12 per bag.

A practical guide to learning Italian naturally. The emphasis is on everyday situations to learn useful sentences. You will be guided with structure and pronunciation to acquire the confidence to speak through listening and practice.


FRENCH FOR TRAVELLERS                 $145

Are you travelling to a French speaking country and want the basics to communicate while you are away? This course will focus on situations travellers generally encounter when they are in a foreign country, giving lots of vocabulary and role playing. This practical course will focus on communication to encourage the use of the language from the start.

 

CONVERSATION FRENCH                   $145

Stretch, strengthen and relax. Improve your posture, health, energy, vitality and relieve stress. Includes postures, breathing, relaxation and meditation. Students do the postures within their own capabilities. Individual attention is given. You will leave this class feeling calm and relaxed with a positive outlook on life. BELLYDANCING    $125

WEDNESDAYS 7.30pm—8.30pm

Bring out the inner goddess in you! Belly dancing encourages movement, flexibility and a positive body image. You will learn technique as well as “feel” in a supportive, non-competitive environment.     

Suitable for all ages and body shapes.

 

 

WORKSHOPS

 

THE FIGURE & PORTRAITURE               $80

SATURDAY 14th June: 10am-4pm

Using a technique devised by the great masters we will investigate the proportions of the face and figure with a simple straight line, building up form and structure and focus on developing your own individual style. Beginners and advanced students are welcome.

 

FELT-MAKING                               $100

SUNDAY 13th July : 10am—4pm

This workshop is an

introduction to basic felting techniques.

Students with produce felt swatches and a small felt purse. All

basic materials

provided.

 

SPECIAL EVENT: GLASS WORKSHOPS with PETER MINSON

Peter Minson is a renowned glass artist who holds workshops in his Studio in Binalong NSW and around Australia.  He studied at the Orrefors Glass School, Sweden and Kosta Boda Glass, and has taught at the Canberra School of Art, RMIT University Melbourne and Sydney College of the Arts.

 

Beginners Glass Bead Making

SATURDAY 30th August: 10am-4pm $200

Glass is an exciting and challenging material to work with and this class is designed to let beginner students start exploring their creativity with knowledge and understanding. Students will receive a comprehensive introduction to safety issues before receiving instruction on hand techniques for bead making. Demonstrations will be given for bead making techniques including compatibility tests, making stringers, twisties, encasing, combing (feathering), using foils and Dichroic. 

 

Borosilicate glass and blowing

SUNDAY 31st August: 10am-4pm $225

This Intermediate-Advanced class will introduce techniques using Borosilicate (Pyrex) Glass to explore its use for blown work using offhand skills.  The term Offhand is used in Lampworking, when working without a mandrel. You will be taught how to create hollow blown beads and vessels using Borosilicate, demonstrating decoration techniques on the outside or inside of tubing.  Compatibility and annealing will be explained at length for different glasses. 

 

KNITTING WORKSHOP $75

Branka Kringas    

SATURDAY 2ND AUGUST : 10am—3pm

Come and learn to knit or create your own designs. This workshop is suitable for the beginner and those wishing to extend their knitting skills and the very advanced. Branka is an amazing textile artist with lots of experience and will assist you at whatever level you are at. She will demonstrate seamless knitting techniques and will help you with your own projects.

 

INTRODUCTION TO CALLIGRAPHY      $75

SUNDAY 24th August : 10am - 3pm

Have you always wanted to use calligraphy for cards, or perhaps for bookmarks or invitations? This workshop , specifically designed for beginners, will show you how, using an attractive ancient alphabet and various design ideas. You will take home a selection of examples with all materials and notes included.

 

 

EXPERIMENTAL PASTELS                      $80

SATURDAY 13th September: 10am-4pm

Learn the versatility of working with pastels. In this fun and experimental workshop we will start with a still life and then abstract it using collage and mixed media. This class is suitable for beginners and the experienced.

 

LIFE DRAWING
3rd August, 17th August , 31st August & 14th September 2008
11:00am – 3.00pm
$140 (4 sessions)

Includes life model & co-ordinator only

This life drawing group is for artists who want to work from the figure in an undirected environment. On a fortnightly basis local artists will meet to draw or paint the figure with a co-ordinator who will guide and help set the poses for the class, ranging from 3 to 15 minute poses in the morning session and two, 1 hour poses in the afternoon.
